Hello, my name is Martin Cowen, owner, and operator of Phase 3 Fitness. I want to take some time and tell you what is going on in my fitness life. Just as real life changes so does a fitness life. So for the last 2 months, I’ve been living a vegan lifestyle. As a trainer and business owner, it’s always important to listen to what people are doing and advising how to do it more efficiently. So I’m in the middle of a vegan dietary intake. I’m going vegan to see if I can gain lean muscle and lose body fat. I’m also training for the Austin half marathon in February so I want to see if I can live the life I want as a vegan. With that in mind, our bodies’ do require certain things: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals. You can get all of this from a well informed vegan lifestyle. There is only one plant based source that has all nine essential amino acids, (which is the building blocks of protein.) This is the soybean. So we call this a complete protein, the rest are known as incomplete proteins. It’s important to get all the nutrients your body needs. As for me after 2 months, I have noticed an increase in muscle growth and a decrease in body fat. Something to keep in mind, a vegan lifestyle has no B vitamins. So supplementing B vitamins is very important.
Now please keep in mind, this is just what I have done and is in no way what I advocate. Proper nutrition is the key, so if you want to live a certain lifestyle please do the research and be better informed. Thanks for letting me share my story with you.
